Superior Japanese Green Tea
MAIKO TEA SHOP

This tea of exceptionally high quality is grown at the tea gardens surrounding the residence of MaikoTea's renowned tea expert Yamashita Toshikazu. He watches daily over the production of this most exquisite premium tea and makes sure that every step of the cultivation is done with great care and skillfulness.
The Yamashita Gyokuro has a condensed sweet taste with a characteristic ambrosial fragrance and extremely gentle flavour.
The production of this 'expert' tea is limited to a few kilograms a year since it's processing is extremely tedious and time consuming. Being of such high quality the thick tea leaves maintain their pleasant flavor even up to 4-5 servings.

In contrast to the very popular 'Shincha' (freshly harvested tea) Nomigoro belongs to the 'Kuradashi Cha' (out of the storehouse tea) category. As with good wine it takes many years to mature it's distinct flavor. Tea expert Yamashita Toshikazu keeps this Gyokuro in a designated cold store for about 5 years to create an especially potent sweetness and mellow flavor.
The thick leaves create an emerald colored beverage with a soft palate texture. The high quality tea maintains its good flavor even up to 4-5 servings.

Among the Yamashita Gyokuro this tea is the most affordable. It could be called the 'initiation' into the compilation of Yamshita teas.
When infused with water in lower temperatures it emanates a soft and sweet aroma; when affused with hotter water it will leave a clean and refreshing aftertaste.
This is a wonderful gift item for someone special who understands the difference of teas.
